Winter Attractions
Queenstown is host to 2 major skifields: Coronet Peak and the Remarkables, which come alive in the winter during the months of June-October. Great runs and fresh powder, need we say more…

Leisure on Land
Central Otago is Lord of the Rings country – take a guided tour! Alternatively, spend a day horseriding through the hills or take the TSS Earnslaw across the lake to Walter Peak Farm Station.

Take a Walk
Enjoy a scenic stroll along the lakefront or up Queenstown Hill, or for the slightly fitter, go hiking along the many tracks around – Ben Lomond, One Mile Creek, Mt Creighton and many more. Those keen trampers should do the Routeburn Track – a 5 day experience into the depths of Paradise and Milford Sound.

Dining Out
The many restaurants in the area cater for a multitude of cultures and range from excellent fine dining venues to traditional New Zealand Cuisine and 24-hour express food stores. As an option, enjoy a picnic up Deer Park Heights or in the Botanical gardens. Alternatively you can travel across L:ake Wakatipu abourad the TSS Earnslaw steamship and enjoy a romantic dinner at the High Country sheep station Walter Peak.

Vineyards
Central Otago has quickly realised its potential as a wine-making area. The first vineyards were established in the mid 1970’s and many boutique wineries have developed, especially around the Lake Hayes area, producing “some of the best southernmost wines in the world”. The hot, dry summers, sunny autumns and very cold winters provide an excellent climate for cultivation, especially good Pinot Noir. Some of our more popular wineries include: Gibbston Valley, Amisfield, Waitiri Creek and Rippon.

In the Air
See Milford Sound, icy glaciers and other breathtaking scenery by helicopter or fixed wing plane. Hot air ballooning at sunrise is also popular! The photo on the right was taken early one morning from Morven on Hayes property - a spectacular view as the hot air balloon rises over misty Lake Hayes.
