New Zealand welcomes and encourages overseas investment from all countries. This is reflected by the facilitative nature of the Government's overseas investment policies.

Investors from many different countries, including NZ ex-pats, are purchasing residential property in New Zealand. A great number of these investors come from Hong Kong for tax effective reasons, but there are also many Australians, Americans and Englishmen.

In the Queenstown/Lakes District especially, being New Zealand’s premier and fastest-growing tourist destination, there is a significant onward-and-upward trend in the number of foreigners electing to purchase valuable land here, not only for investment purposes, but for permanent and holiday residency as well. Recent years have marked this trend and the property market continues to flourish, with new developments constantly evolving.
